RapidRidge is a brand new concept in Australia. Although widely used throughout Europe for many years, in Australia we have not yet moved away from a traditional ‘wet’ method of mortar and pointing for securing ridge caps. RapidRidge is a dry fixed roofing system which creates an open ridge at the highest point of the roof. This facilitates a natural cooling passive system across the whole roof, to reduce heat transfer from the roof and ceiling into the living space.
Dry fixed roofs can be installed in most weather conditions and unlike mortar does not degrade over time, meaning there is no need for future maintenance. In the long run, when this is factored in, dry fixed roofs are always more cost-effective when compared with roofs installed with mortar.
RapidRidge is an easy and cost effective way to reduce temperature and moisture build up in the roof space. This is important not just for the structure of the roof but also for the health of the people living inside.
