Mortar and pointing has been used in the construction industry as a traditional method for installing ridge tiles since construction began. As mortar ages over time, cracks begin to appear and the ridge tiles become less secure as the mortar begins to loosen. So what options do you have?

There’s the messy traditional way that may crack again, or, there’s a dry fixed method that requires no mortar or ongoing maintenance – set and forget, welcome to RapidRidge, the perfect solution to maintaining your tiled ridge, sustainably.

The two key things to retrofitting a dry fixed ridge are:

  • Ensure the mortar is loose enough to remove it from the top row of tiles and the ridge tile; and
  • Remove all tiles in the top row on each side of the ridge to allow fitment of the batten holder, which allows for a batten to be placed through the ridge/apex of the roof to allow for the tiles to be securely held in place with the tile clips

You can refer to our easy-to-use installation instructions on the Evo Building Products website for how to install RapidRidge. Once it has been installed, you’ll be able to forget about any ongoing maintenance, and be safe in the knowledge that you are using technology that is used on 99.9% of German tiled roofs.

You can also combine the system with vents at the eaves to facilitate a passive ventilation throughout the roof space; this system recently won the HIA GreenSmart awards.
